Product Description

1/2" Skidder Choker – Medium Duty Steel Cable Choker for Slider Systems

Our 1/2" Skidder Choker is a Medium Duty logging choker built for use with slider systems, where multiple chokers connect to a main winch line using sliding hooks. This choker has a nub on both ends, making it incompatible with direct hook-up methods. It’s designed specifically for crews using a bell-style slider system on a drumline, common in professional forestry and log skidding operations.

Each unit is made from tough 6x19 class IWRC EIPS wire rope and finished with professionally swaged fittings. It’s equipped with a Midget-size choker hook—a reliable, time-tested choice for choking logs in the woods. Durable, dependable, and made in-house by our rigging team, this choker is ready for field use in rugged environments.

Pro Tip: Skidder chokers have a nub on both ends and cannot be hooked directly to a tractor, pickup, or tow ball. They are only meant for slider systems with a mainline and bell-style sliding choker hooks. If you're pulling logs with a tractor or similar vehicle, our Cat Choker is the better choice. Be sure to double-check before ordering—this is a common mistake.

Key Features:

  • End Fittings: Swaged nubs on both ends for slider system integration
  • Choker Hook: Fitted with a Midget-size choker hook for secure log choking
  • Medium Duty Rating: Suited for skidding medium-diameter logs and tougher terrain
  • Slider System Compatible: Intended for use with bell-style sliding hooks on winch drumlines
  • Built In-House: Assembled daily by our experienced rigging team
  • NOT for Direct Hook-Up: Will not work with tractors, pickups, or tow chains without a slider system

Specifications:

  • Diameter: 1/2"
  • Wire Rope Type: 6x19 Class IWRC EIPS
  • Standard Lengths: 6 ft, 8 ft, 10 ft, 12 ft, 15 ft, and 20 ft
