Zinc-Plated Cold Shuts
Zinc-Plated Cold Shuts – Low-Grade Chain Repair Connectors
Zinc-Plated Cold Shuts are low-grade connectors designed for repairing broken chains or attaching chains to pad eyes and other tie-down points in non-critical, non-lifting applications. To install, insert the open end through the chain link or attachment point, then hammer the open end through the cold shut eye and peen (flatten) the extended end to secure the connection. This simple installation process allows for quick in-field assembly using common hand tools. Available in sizes ranging from 3/16" to 1/2", with working load limits (WLL) from 660 to 3,300 lbs, these cold shuts offer a practical solution for light-duty chain repairs and attachments. Note: Cold shuts are not suitable for overhead lifting or critical applications and should only be used where safety is not a primary concern.
