Ulven #109 Knock Out Pin Shackles
This specialty shackle really was designed for the timber industry. Its knock out pin is unique, and not appropriate in most applications. But in logging, this shackle is the perfect choice for attachment to a skyline (it has other uses as well). The pin features a hole designed to accept a wire rope molly, which is a piece of cable that is braided into a circle--this keeps the pin very secure. It is made from hand forged alloy steel, right here in Oregon. The strength-to-weight ratio on these shackles is very impressive, and they hold up well in logging applications.
Ulven forest products are designed to be used with and tested with wire rope conforming to the following description: New 6x19 or 6x37 Class, EIPS, IWRC, RRL wire rope made to US specifications. These shackles are for use in logging / skidding or pulling applications only.
