Low Grade Connectors – Quick Links, Snap Links, and More
Low-grade connectors are designed for non-critical applications and are weaker than Grade 70 tie-down chains. These connectors provide simple solutions for light-duty chain repairs and attachments but are not rated for overhead lifting or climbing.
Popular Low-Grade Connectors:
- Cold Shuts & Lap Links – Traditional repair links for low-grade chains, offering an old-school method for splicing or fixing chain sections.
- Quick Links – Features a screw gate for secure connections in light-duty applications. Frequently confused with carabiners but not rated for climbing.
- Snap Links – Similar to quick links but with a spring-loaded gate for fast attachment and removal. Not to be used for climbing or load-bearing applications.
- Missing Links – Designed to replace a broken link in a chain. The Crosby G-335 is the most recognized, featuring a galvanized finish, while affordable imported options are available with a zinc-plated finish.
Key Considerations:
- Not intended for high-load or overhead applications.
- Ensure compatibility with your chain size and type.
- Do not confuse quick links and snap links with climbing-rated carabiners.
