Thern makes the finest hand winches on the market today, and they are made proudly here in the U.S.A. in Winona, MN. Choose from a variety of load capacities and several winch styles.
Spur Gear vs. Worm Gear
Spur Gear hand winches have up to a 10,000 lb. load capacity and lift faster than worm gear winches, but require more force to operate. Thern’s machine-cut spur gears provide long-lasting service and are available in a variety of configurations to meet the performance requirements of your manual pulling, hoisting or lowering application.
Worm Gear hand winches have up to 4,600 lb. load capacity and lift slower than spur gear winches, yet require less force. Thern’s worm gear hand winches are available in multiple configurations and performance ratings designed to keep things moving smoothly and efficiently. Worm gearing provides extra load-holding power for accurate positioning and secure control of loads.
Pulling vs. Lifting
Be sure you know which kind of winch you need. If you're pulling--NOT lifting overhead--then you can use a model without a brake. If you are lifting overhead, or if load control is important, then be sure to choose a model with a brake (look for the "B" or "PB" suffix in the model number).
NONE OF THESE MODELS ARE RATED FOR HOISTING PERSONNEL. CABLE ASSEMBLIES SOLD SEPARATELY.
