Galvanized wire rope with a PVC coating has a lot of great uses, including bike locks and general security cables, dog leashes / runs and even product displays in stores. It is not commonly used for making slings or chokers because the PVC coating will eventually break apart and degrade under those conditions. But for those with light-duty applications that want a protective buffer between the wire rope and the object the wire rope is being used with, PVC coated wire rope makes a great choice.
