Crosby WIRELOCK® W416-7 – The Industry Standard for Socketing Wire Rope
The Crosby WIRELOCK® W416-7 Socketing Compound is a high-performance, cold socketing resin designed for spelter socket terminations on wire rope, available in sizes from 100cc to 2000cc. This 100% efficient termination method has largely replaced traditional molten zinc socketing due to its ease of use, improved fatigue life, and on-site application capabilities. Designed for extreme conditions, WIRELOCK® operates within a temperature range of -65°F to +240°F (-54°C to +116°C) and must be poured between 48°F and 110°F (6.67°C to 43.3°C), with booster packs available for colder temperatures. The installation process involves proper rope preparation, brooming, cleaning, and precise mixing to ensure a strong, reliable termination. Approved by major industry standards, including ABS, DNV, and ISO 17558, WIRELOCK® offers fast curing times and a safer, non-hazardous alternative to molten metal socketing. Proper storage in a well-ventilated area, away from heat and ignition sources, is essential for maintaining product integrity.
