The 9/16" skidding choker is the middle of the road in terms of size, being more stout than both 3/8" and 1/2" chokers, yet because it uses the same midget-sized hardware, it's not overly heavy. That said, it's beefier than you might realize is only appropriate for those skidding heavier loads and looking to push the limits of their 5/8" - 3/4" main line. A skidding choker, unlike a cat choker, is meant to work with a slider system. That means you have a main line with sliding choker hooks coming off of it (ring sliders and one sleeve slider at the end). These skidding chokers attach to the sliding choker hooks, which is why the don't have an eye/loop on one end.
If you don't have a sliding choker system, then you likely do not want a skidding choker.
A secondary, less common use for a skidding choker is to simply tag onto an existing choker and provide more reach/length. This pratice is not super common or ideal, but we recognize that it happens in the field.
Skidding chokers are not as popular as cat chokers. They are built to order and non-returnable so please buy accordingly.
