Product Description

Wedge-Grip Dead-ends are designed to simplify the costly, labor intensive job of cabling trees. The simple housing and wedge assembly terminates EHS and Common Grade strand by simply sliding over it, and with a turn of the cap, the strand is held in place. Wedge-Grip Dead-ends eliminate the need to twist strand or alter its integrity in any way. The result is a reliable cable termination that maintains 100% of the published rated Breaking Strength of the strand, and takes only seconds to apply.

  • Does not harm trees
  • Arrives pre-assembled
  • For use on Extra High Strength (EHS) 1x7 galvanized steel strand (not for use with regular wire rope)
  • Quick and easy installation--no special tools needed, tightened by hand
  • Compact design is perfect for tree crotch and tight spaces

At this time PLP (the mfg.) does not approve these for use in recreational zip line systems, but we're told they're looking into the possibility. Likely more testing (R&D) would need to be done to authorize this type of application.

PLP Wedge-Grips are designed to achieve 100% efficiency of the cable they're used with, which typically is EHS 1x7 Strand cable. We do not recommend them for use with other types of cable. The Breaking Strength for 1/4" EHS is published @ 6650 lbs. This should be more than enough to take the load of a swing, but of course, we are not engineers and we cannot promise this product will hold, or work as intended, by simply responding to a Q&A form. If you need assistance, we recommend checking with a qualified contractor or arborist in your area that might be familiar with the installation of this product.

The manufacturer only recommends it for use with 1/4" 1x7 cable.
