Basic use overview

The CMI Large Ultra Ascender is designed for intuitive attachment while maintaining secure cam engagement and safety catch closure.

  • Open the safety catch using your thumb
  • Open the cam using the thumb notch provided
  • Place the rope fully into the ascender body
  • Release the safety catch
  • Allow the safety catch to return to the fully closed position before loading

Repeat the same process when attaching the opposite-hand ascender. Ultrascenders are intended to be used in left/right pairs.

Pro tip:

After installing the ascender on the rope, visually and physically confirm that the safety catch is fully closed. Improper closure may allow the ascender to disengage from the rope.

Important safety notice

Ascenders are life-support equipment. Proper training, inspection before each use, and appropriate backup systems are essential. Always follow manufacturer instructions and accepted climbing practices.
