Bishop Lifting News

Bishop Lifting’s new Houston vertical test bed expands high-capacity testing, inspection, certification, and proof testing support for critical lifting equipment.

New Houston Vertical Test Bed

32' x 32' footprint with 600,000 lb testing capacity

Houston, TX — Bishop Lifting is proud to announce the installation of a new 32' x 32' vertical test bed with a 600,000 lb capacity at our Houston, Texas facility. This investment expands our ability to support customers with testing, inspection, and certification services for critical lifting equipment used across demanding industrial environments.

When lifting equipment needs to be tested, inspected, and certified, capacity matters. For customers working with large, heavy, or complex lifting equipment, the size and strength of the test equipment can directly impact what can be tested, how efficiently it can be tested, and where that work can be completed.

Bishop Lifting recently added this new vertical testing capability at its Houston facility to better support demanding lifting applications with proof testing, inspection, certification, and technical support. For customers who depend on safe, documented, and reliable lifting equipment, this expansion provides another valuable resource from a team with deep rigging and lifting expertise.

With its combination of overall size, strength, and testing capability, Bishop Lifting’s new Houston vertical test bed is believed to be one of the largest and most capable vertical test beds in the rigging industry, and possibly one of the largest of its kind in North America.

Why Vertical Test Bed Capacity Matters

In the rigging industry, not every test bed is designed for the same type of equipment or loading orientation. Some lifting assemblies are tested horizontally, while others require vertical testing to better reflect how the equipment is used in service.

A large vertical test bed gives customers additional flexibility for equipment such as hoists, lifting assemblies, rigging components, below-the-hook devices, and other load-handling equipment that may require vertical proof testing or inspection support.

Built for Demanding Lifting Applications

Vertical testing is especially important for equipment and assemblies that need to be evaluated in a load orientation that closely reflects field use. This new capability enhances Bishop Lifting’s ability to support testing needs for lifting equipment such as chain hoists and other critical lifting assemblies.

The test bed supports Bishop Lifting’s broader inspection and certification services, including support for slings, loose lifting gear, pad eyes and lugs, rigging hardware, cranes and hoists, below-the-hook lifting devices, load measuring equipment, and other critical lifting components.

Supporting Safety, Compliance, and Readiness

In lifting operations, equipment performance matters. Customers depend on properly inspected and tested equipment to help protect people, reduce risk, meet project requirements, and keep work moving safely.

Bishop Lifting’s testing and certification services help customers verify lifting equipment before it goes into service, returns to service, or is used in critical applications. Whether the need involves proof testing, inspection, recertification, repair verification, or technical support, Bishop Lifting provides the equipment, expertise, and documentation customers need to move forward with confidence.

This new Houston investment is another example of Bishop Lifting’s commitment to the tools and capabilities customers depend on for safe and successful lifting operations.
