Pewag Security Chain. And generally speaking, when Pewag partnered with Viro, the market reaction was very positive, as Viro has a great reputation as a fine Italian lock manufacturer. BUT, all that said, we were still seeing consistent demand from our customers for Abus padlocks, and in particular, the Granit line of locks.
What It IsThis is a true, high-security padlock that works well with larger security chains (as outlined above)--bear in mind that if you are using Abus' security chains, we recommend going with the 37/60 padlock, as it is designed to work with a single link being installed as the lock is closed. The body and shackle are made from hardened alloy steel. Additionally, the shackle is a beefy 35/64" (0.547"), and mates well to even our largest security chains. Primarily, we recommend this lock for use with the following chains:
Pewag 1/2" Galvanized #56847 and
Laclede 1/2" Lockdown Chain.
Why You Need ItBecause a good security chain is only as good as the lock you secure it with. This lock features the ABUS-Plus disk cylinder, which offers the highest protection against manipulation, with an extremely high number of key differs. Thieves look for the quick and easy target, but with this lock, there are no shortcuts! Bolt cutters are no match for this large, oversized shackle!
How Big Is It?This lock is bigger than the smaller
Abus 37/60 Granit Padlock, and feels large and solid in the hand. It weighs 1.90 lbs. While not the biggest padlock we offer, it feels and looks intimidating, especially when paired with the right chain. We know you will be impressed!
How Secure Is It?Thieves hate these locks due to the high-quality materials used and their exclusive shape that makes them practically impossible to grip with traditional cutters or other common tools. The body and shackle are made from hardened alloy steel, and the cylinder is inserted from the top, which means optimum drill and pull resistance. The Black Granit coating offers high corrosion resistance. Additionally, the lock cylinders can be rekeyed to match an existing key at any point down the road (referred to as "rekeyable"). Supplied with two keys, one featuring an integrated LED light for low light conditions.
