Stainless steel lifting chains and accessories (Grade 50/63) play an important role in the world of rigging. They are usable in areas where conventional alloy chain is not sufficiently resistant to corrosion--examples include marine, wastewater and food handling industries. They are also suitable for use at higher temperatures by comparison.
Please note that Pewag has changed from offering Grade 50 to Grade 63 chain and components. The new Grade 63 product line has good resistance against pitting and stress corrosion cracking. Its unique combination of corrosion resistance, resistance to stress corrosion cracking, high tensile and yield strength make it a great choice for Pewag's new stainless lifting chain lineup.
Do not intermix regular stainless steel chain and components along with Grade 50/63 products for the purposes of overhead lifting. Doing so is unsafe and goes against Pewag's instructions for use, which is against OSHA law.
