Tuffy has combined "flexible" and "grip" to give you Flexi-Grip®, the round sling that lifts many loads most other types of slings can’t. The Flexi-Grip® wraps easily around just about any shape and size and grips the load with ease, hugs it tight (especially in a choker hitch) and lifts with security and flexibility like no other.
Notice too that these are not an endless round sling, but rather, an eye & eye round sling. This makes them very familiar to end users in the field, since they look and function just like a regular eye & eye web sling. BUT, you get a combination of benefits...the utility of a regular web sling + the durability and strength color-coding of a round sling!
Flexi-Grip® roundslings are made in accordance with ASME B30.9 Sling Standard section 9.6.
The all-polyester construction of Tuffy Flexi-Grip’s virtually eliminates moisture absorption, rot and mildew for long service life. They feature a relatively low stretch (3% maximum at its rated capacity) and returns to original length. Polyester also offers good resistance to common industrial acids (except concentrated sulfuric acid) and hot bleaching solutions. You can use Flexi-Grip slings in the presence of many common chemicals such as alcohol, dry cleaning solvent, hydrocarbons, halogenated hydrocarbons, ketones, crude oil, lubricating oils, soaps, detergents, seawater and weak alkalis. Never use or allow exposure to temperatures above 194° F (90° C) or below – 40° F (-40° C).
Every Flexi-Grip® sling is encased in a color-coded double-layer polyester jacket which protects the internal load-bearing fibers from abrasion and wear while protecting against ultraviolet degradation.
It's extremely important to choose the right type and size of rigging hardware for use with polyester round slings. Most commonly, our customers are rigging up their round slings using shackles, therefore, on the specifications tab for every sling we have listed out the "Minimum Shackle Size". This represents the smallest shackle diameter you can use with the sling, but it doesn't mean that you can size up a bit. For example, if the "Minimum Shackle Size" is 5/8", you could likely use a 3/4" or 7/8" shackle as well, provided it fits with the rest of your rigging plan. You cannot, however, size down to 1/2". Ideally, you would use shackles specifically designed for use with round slings, but we realize such a shackle is not always available. It's worth noting too that any connecting hardware, apart from shackles (such as hooks, links, etc.), also needs to be sized accordingly. Full specs are available from the WSTDA Round Sling publication (RS-1, Section 4.7.1).
Before each lift (as you would do with any sling), visually inspect your Flexi-Grip® for any damage. Remove sling from service if you see:
