the 4000 winch has proven to be a gamechanger when it comes to doing fuel reduction on my remote very steep almost inacessable land. This winch has enabled me to skid out logs from some of my "billy goat" steep canyons that are otherwise impossible to do fuel reduction on. Thanks, I will highly recommend the 4000 to other family and friends that also live in similar high fire areas in Nor-Cal and have acreage to thin. Bob.

We do not believe there is a quality drop-off between the 4000 and 5000. We can tell you that the 4000 is a much newer model, so its track record is not yet fully proven like the 5000. But, the 4000 has two main upgrades: 1) Integrated rope cleats to capture pulling progress, and 2) 360º tilt capability. Using the winch on a hill or any kind of steep angle will not prevent it from operating.

It does include the following: Polyester sling - 2-1/2'' x 6-1/2'. We hope to have more of these winches in stock in the next week or so.

Possibly, but for such a customization, we recommend reaching out directly to the manufacturer to discuss the technical do's and dont's, and to verify it's even feasible. You can contact Portable Winch @ 888 388-7855.

From the owner's manual:

Use 4-stroke motor oil that meets or exceeds the requirements for API service classification SJ or later (or equivalent). Always check the API service label on the oil container to be sure it includes the letters SJ or later (or equivalent).
