Product Description
Peavey Manufacturing Standard Peavey – Hardwood Logging Tool
The Standard Peavey is one of the most recognizable tools in the logging industry. Originally developed by Joseph Peavey in 1857, it remains a go-to solution for loggers, sawmills, and firewood operations that need reliable leverage and control when handling timber. Still manufactured in the USA by Peavey Manufacturing in Eddington, Maine, these tools are built for durability and real-world jobsite use.
Available in multiple length options to suit different working conditions, the peavey offers the right balance of reach, leverage, and maneuverability depending on your application.
What Log Diameter Can a Peavey Handle?
This is one of the most common questions we get. The short answer: there is no fixed diameter limit. The real limitation comes down to the operator—what they can safely control and maneuver based on log weight, footing, and available leverage.
How It Works
The peavey uses a forged duck bill hook to grip the log while the hardwood handle provides leverage to roll, turn, or reposition it. A pointed spike at the end of the handle allows you to dig in and pry logs apart when needed, giving you added control in tight or heavy material situations.
