Product Description

ISC REFLEX Mechanical Hitch for SRT & MRT Arborist Climbing Systems

The ISC REFLEX Mechanical Hitch is an advanced arborist climbing device engineered for smooth, controlled movement in both SRT (Single Rope Technique) and MRT (Moving Rope Technique) climbing systems. Designed as a compact alternative to traditional hitch cord systems and popular mechanical devices like the Petzl Zigzag, the REFLEX combines consistent friction management with the convenience of true mid-line attachment.

Unlike many traditional mechanical hitches that require feeding the entire rope through the device, the REFLEX allows climbers to install the rope directly into the unit using ISC’s innovative safety-lock swing frame and L-shaped link system. This makes installation significantly faster and more convenient—especially when working with ropes that have bulky sewn terminations or manufacturer traceability labels.

Built for professional arborists, the REFLEX delivers smooth descent control with gradual friction engagement that feels familiar to climbers accustomed to hitch cord systems, while offering the consistency and efficiency of a premium mechanical climbing device.

Key Features

  • Mid-Line Attachable Design: Install or remove the device without pulling the full rope through the system
  • SRT & MRT Compatible: Designed for modern single rope and moving rope climbing systems
  • Smooth Mechanical Friction Control: Provides gradual engagement and controlled descent with familiar hitch-like handling
  • No Rope Wrench Required: Can be used in many SRT setups without additional friction hardware
  • Self-Tending Performance: Low-friction ascent with efficient slack management
  • Removable & Replaceable Swivel Eye: Allows fast disconnection and extended service life
  • Rescue Rated: 200 kg working load capability for rescue applications
  • Durable Professional Construction: Anodized aluminum body with serialized traceability and CE certification
Important: The ISC REFLEX is designed for use on 11 mm to 13 mm EN1891 Type A ropes. Always verify rope compatibility and follow manufacturer instructions before use. While many climbers use the REFLEX in SRT applications without a rope wrench, climbing style, rope choice, and rescue configurations may influence preferred setup options.

The REFLEX is especially beneficial for climbers who value a streamlined, compact climbing setup with efficient limb passing and easy canopy transitions. Mid-line attachment also makes it easier to preserve rope identification labels and factory terminations that would otherwise need to pass entirely through the device.

Manufactured by ISC Wales, the REFLEX features a durable anodized body, serialized traceability, and CE certification to EN 12841:2024/C standards for professional arborist climbing applications.
