Product Description

These heavy-duty earth anchors are used for securing poles, tower, trees, stages and other similar structures. We sell them into the arborist, tower rigging and stage rigging industries. They are popular because they are both strong and economical, and install easily. Simply turn/screw the anchor into the ground using a strong bar placed through the anchor's forged eye. No special tools required--may be installed by hand, or with machine power. Designed with a forged triple eye rod with an angled point and a firmly welded helix. A hot-dip galvanized finish meets ASTM Specification A153, Class C for long resistance to rust.

Holding Power & Soil Types

Class 5 Soil
Rated @ 6,500 lbs
Definition: Medium dense coarse sand and sandy gravels; stiff to very stiff silts and clays Saprolites; residual soils

Class 6 Soil
Rated @ 5,000 lbs
Definition: Loose to medium dense fine to coarse sand; firm to stiff clays and silts; dense hydraulic fill; compacted fill; residual soils

Class 7 Soil
Rated @ 2,500 lbs
Definition: Loose fine sand; Alluvium; loess; soil-firm clays; varied clays; flood plain soils; lake clays; adobe; gumbo; fill

Anchor requirements are site specific. Soil type should be determined to ensure that the correct anchors are used. Always seek professional guidance. Anchors must be installed at an angle of 45º in the direction of the load. Failure to install within 5º of alignment of the guy load will significantly lower strength. Capacity ratings apply to properly installed anchors only.

Will this withstand salt water marine use? See more »

These are not specifically rated for salt water but with that being said they are Galvanized to ASTM A153, Class C and we do sell quite a few into the marine industry.

We do not sell the installation tools, as there are no specific tools prescribed by the mfg. They have advised in the past that customers use a variety of tools and different equipment. Some simply install a pipe or piece of rebar through the eye to manually twist the anchor, while some use special attachments on a skidsteer or similar piece of equipment.

When you state in the direction of the load for the 45 degree angle what do you mean? Do you have an image for reference? For instance if I connect a rope to the anchor and pull on the rope would the anchor be 45 degrees towards me or away? See more »

Sorry, but we don't have an illustration handy. Essentially, you want to apply the load in line with the anchor when possible. If the anchor is installed vertically in the soil (up and down), then ideally the load would be applied vertically as well. If the anchor is installed at an angle, then the load should be applied at that same angle.

I'm building a temporary stage, are these easily removable when striking the stage or are they for permanent jobs only? See more »
3 years ago
It is possible to remove them by rotating them in reverse (opposite the way you install them). Whether or not it's easy depends on the user, their experience, tools and equipment available, etc.

It's hard to give a precise answer due to the contouring of the eye. It measures approximately 1-3/8"W x 1-1/2"L on the inside.
