Bishop Lifting Expands to the Midwest with Acquisition of American Rigger’s Supply
We’re excited to announce that Bishop Lifting has acquired American Rigger’s Supply, Inc., a respected sling fabrication and rigging supply company based in Kansas City, Kansas. This move strengthens our ability to serve customers locally across the Midwest with an expanded range of lifting solutions.
About American Rigger’s
Founded more than 50 years ago by Chris Hughes and later led by his daughter Jennifer Hughes, American Rigger’s is known for quality, safety, and service in custom lifting products and support. Their offerings include:
- Sling fabrication and rigging supplies
- Rigging and fall protection training
- Inspections and proof testing
- Repair of lifting devices
Why This Matters
This marks Bishop’s fifteenth acquisition since 2012 and the eighth add-on acquisition since Altamont’s investment, reflecting our strategy to grow both our geographic footprint and our service offerings. With a new presence in the Midwest, we can support customers even more quickly and comprehensively.
Welcoming the Team
We’re delighted to welcome Jennifer Hughes, founding employee Jim Leach, and the entire American Rigger’s team to Bishop. Following the closing, Jennifer and Jim will assist with a smooth transition, and Neal Edwards will serve as Branch Manager, overseeing day-to-day operations.
“Their long-standing reputation and customer relationships will be an excellent addition to our company. We look forward to serving customers with even greater reach and capability.”
Looking Ahead
Together, we’ll continue delivering high-quality slings, rigging hardware, hoists, fall protection, inspections, and training—backed by local expertise and the resources of the broader Bishop network.
