Product Description

Crosby HG-227 Jaw & Eye Turnbuckles

The Crosby HG-227 Jaw & Eye Turnbuckles feature a forged jaw on one end and an elongated eye on the other, providing flexibility for connecting to clevis pins, eye bolts, or shackles. Built for straight-line tensioning, these turnbuckles are ideal for industrial, marine, and structural applications requiring dependable strength and fatigue performance. All components are hot-dip galvanized for corrosion resistance and meet stringent ASME and Federal standards.

Key Features

  • Forged and heat-treated construction ensures superior strength and toughness.
  • Jaw ends use bolt-and-nut assemblies for 1/4"–5/8" sizes, and pin-and-cotter connections for 3/4"–2-3/4" sizes.
  • Elongated forged eye for easy system integration and reduced stress concentration.
  • Modified UNJ thread on end fittings; body has UNC threads for consistent engagement.
  • Hot-dip galvanized for maximum corrosion resistance.
  • Fatigue rated to 20,000 cycles at 1.5× WLL.
  • Lock nuts available for all sizes.
  • 5:1 design factor; proof load is 2.5× WLL.
  • Meets ASME B30.26, ASTM F-1145, and Federal Specification FF-T-791b Type 1 Form 1 Class 8.

Size & Capacity Range

  • Available sizes: 5/16" x 4-1/2" through 2-3/4" x 24"
  • Working Load Limit (WLL): 800 lbs to 75,000 lbs

Usage & Safety Information

  • For straight, in-line tensioning only. Do not side load or bend the turnbuckle body.
  • When used in lifting systems, ensure threads are fully engaged and end fittings are secured to prevent rotation or unthreading under load.
  • Lock nuts or wire-tying methods can be used to maintain tensioned position.

Typical Applications

  • Marine and offshore rigging
  • Construction and structural bracing
  • Industrial lifting and tensioning systems
