Product Description
Crosby G-277 Shoulder Nut Eye Bolts – Forged, Fatigue-Rated, with Included Heavy Hex Nut
The Crosby G-277 Shoulder Nut Eye Bolts are premium forged lifting points engineered for secure through-bolted lifting applications. Each unit is forged from quenched and tempered steel, hot-dip galvanized for corrosion protection, and supplied with a heavy hex nut for proper clamping and seating. Designed for both in-line and angular loading (with capacity reduction), the G-277 meets or exceeds all ASME B30.26 requirements for identification, ductility, design factor, and proof load performance.
Key Features
- Forged steel construction, quenched and tempered for strength and durability
- Supplied complete with hot-dip galvanized heavy hex nut
- 5:1 design factor; proof tested to 2× the Working Load Limit (WLL)
- Fatigue rated to 1.5× WLL at 20,000 cycles
- Meets ASME B30.26 and Crosby’s internal fatigue, impact, and traceability standards
- Hot-dip galvanized after threading for full corrosion protection
- Rated for in-line loading; angular use permitted with reduced capacity
Working Load Limits & Size Range
- Thread sizes from 5/16" to 1-1/2"
- Working Load Limits from 1,200 lbs to 24,000 lbs
- All threads are UNC and hot-dip galvanized
Safety & Installation Notes
- Rated capacities apply to in-line pulls only. Reduce WLL for angular lifts:
- 15° = 80% of WLL
- 30° = 65% of WLL
- 45° = 30% of WLL
- 90° = 25% of WLL
- Always seat the shoulder flush against the load surface; never undercut the shoulder to achieve fit.
- Inspect threads and eye for wear, bending, or elongation before each use.
- For two-nut assemblies (when shank protrusion ≤ one bolt diameter), tighten both securely against the load.
- Do not reeve slings through multiple eye bolts; it changes load direction and reduces capacity.
Typical Applications
- Machinery and equipment lifting
- Through-bolted hoisting points on fabricated structures
- OEM mounting and maintenance lifts
Important: For angular lifting or side-pull applications, always apply rated capacity reductions as listed above. Maintain clean, undamaged threads, and ensure all assemblies are tightened securely before use. Refer to Crosby’s official warning and application charts for complete safety guidance.
