Drumline Cables – Essential Winch Lines for Efficient Logging Operations
In logging operations, drumline cables—also referred to as winch lines or main lines—are critical components that spool onto the drum of heavy machinery such as skidders and bulldozers. These cables connect to choker cables, enabling the winch to pull logs toward the landing area for processing. Traditionally, 6x19 class XIP IWRC wire ropes have been the standard choice for drumlines, but many operators now prefer high-performance swaged wire ropes, which offer greater strength, durability, and resistance to crushing. Our drumline cables come with a nub fitting on one end for secure attachment, while the other end is cut bare for versatility in rigging setups. Common diameters are 5/8" and 3/4", with lengths ranging from 50 to 125 feet. As a full-service rigging shop, we can customize drumline cables to various diameters and lengths to meet specific operational requirements.
