Wire Rope Swage Fittings – Sleeves, Stops, Stake Eyes & Sockets
Wire rope swage fittings (pronounced "swāj" or "swedge") create permanent terminations by compressing the fitting onto the cable using swaging tools. Swaging produces a strong, compact connection that’s more secure than wire rope clips. We offer a full line of swage fittings for a variety of applications:
- Oval Sleeves (Hourglass Sleeves): Used to form eyes (loops) for secure connections. Available in aluminum and copper for wire rope sizes 1/16" to 1/2".
- Button Stops (Dead-End Ferrules): Create a fixed stop at the end of the cable. Used to prevent pull-through or connect to hardware.
- Stake Eyes: Steel eye fittings swaged onto wire rope for a permanent eye connection. Ideal for industrial and utility applications.
- Crosby Open Swage Sockets (S-501): Steel sockets with an open-eye design to accept a pin or bolt—perfect for connecting to shackles or links.
- Crosby Closed Swage Sockets (S-502): Fully enclosed eye for secure, permanent terminations. Made from forged steel for maximum strength.
Key Benefits of Swage Fittings:
- Permanent and secure terminations — more reliable than clips.
- Compact and clean appearance — reduces bulk and snagging.
- Strong holding power — ideal for wire rope assemblies where strength and durability are required.
- Select fittings are field-installable depending on the size and swaging equipment available; smaller sizes (up to 3/8") are often installed with handheld swagers, while larger fittings typically require hydraulic swagers.
